Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive hit from Larian Studios, as they successfully crafted a beloved RPG last year, ensuring complete fan service and ditching microtransactions to deliver an excellent single-player experience. However, the studio recently announced that it will not make the next Baldur's Gate game, or even work on a DLC for their recent title.
Instead, Larian is working on two new original IPs and projects. While some may call it a risky move for a relatively small studio, their past titles have mostly received positive critiques, including Divinity: Orignal Sin II. The announcement did not mention anything regarding their next game's name.

Baldur's Gate 3 Developers Larian Studios are Working on New Projects
Larian Studios unfolded an important piece of information regarding the studio's future in a developer's update on Thursday, which caught fans by surprise. The beloved studio behind Baldur's Gate 3 is working on two new projects, which will offer the same RPG experience as BG3, with an immersive world respecting various player choices. The developer's update shared a small note regarding the matter, as the studio stated that they are finally 'seizing' the opportunity to make their own IPs. It mentioned:
“As an independent studio since 1996, we value the freedom to follow our creativity wherever it leads. In this case, after six years in the Forgotten Realms and much discussion and rumination, we’ve decided to seize this opportunity to develop our own IPs. We’re currently working on two new projects and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future has in store." The studio further added to their statement by saying that they are 'fueled' by the similar passion they had for Baldur's Gate 3, and will use it to develop future projects. The future games will be equally immersive, and reflect the developer's passion through the gameplay. The note said:
"It’s still early days - we’ll tell you more about those later down the line. But know that even as our focus turns to these new games, the sensibilities that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 are alive and well here at the Larian castle. We’re fueled by the very same fire in our bellies, one that drives us to create immersive experiences shaped by your choices, and we can’t wait for you to join us on this next adventure.”
Larian's CEO, Swen Vincke also mentioned that the the studio's current work is their 'best work ever.' With the developer's announcement out, fans are expecting an experience much above Baldur's Gate 3, and are excited for the studio's future announcements on the projects.
