CD Projekt Red CFO Piotr Nielubowicz has recently claimed that the studio does not see a place for microtransactions in single-player video games. This statement was extracted from an investor chat with the Polish financial site, Stockwatch. While CDPR has had a rough dance with its most recent title, Cyberpunk 2077, the studio has turned the game around with a fascinating expansion and tons of updates.
The studio has been popular in the gaming scene for creating the Witcher franchise, especially after the success of Wild Hunt in 2015. Moreover, CD Projekt Red has been one of the only studios to avoid microtransactions (MTX) in their single-player games.

Cyberpunk 2077 Maker CD Projekt Red Speaks About Microtransactions in Single-Player Games
CD Projekt Red CFO shared his opinion regarding microtransactions in single-player games in response to whether the upcoming games from the studio will see MTX in their gameplay loop. To this, Nielubowicz replied: "We donβt see a place for microtransactions in the case of single-player games, but we do not rule out that we will use this solution in the future in the case of multiplayer projects,β says the CFO."
While most multiplayer games have a different story, CDPR is definitely against the use of MTX in story-based or single-player titles. At the moment, the Polish studio is working on multiple titles, including the Witcher Polaris project and Project Sirius, a Witcher spin-off title that will also include multiplayer, and cater to a broader audience.
Considering a multiplayer title, CDPR has stated that it may incorporate microtransactions in that regard. However, it will be strictly limited to the multiplayer elements of the game. Aside from the two Witcher titles, CD Projekt Red is also working on a Witcher remake and a Cyberpunk sequel. So far, the studio has not announced any multiplayer elements to be present in these titles; however, it is yet to be seen if they include it with their release in the future.
Microtransactions in single-player games have always released negative responses from the audience, as they are known to alter the single-player experience in exchange for currency. While recent AAA releases like Dragon's Dogma 2 have also been known for incorporating MTX into their game, fans have repeatedly complained about the situation, resulting in overwhelmingly negative reviews. Fans are appreciating CD Projekt Red's statement as they have always maintained a proper pricing in their games, while also avoiding MTX in the single-player titles.
