CD Projekt Red, the developers of the popular game Cyberpunk 2077, shared interesting data with regards to their development teams’ engagement. According to the latest X (former Twitter) post by CD Projekt Red, almost 65% of the development team is currently focusing on the development of their upcoming title, Polaris. With CDPR’s priority shifting to Polaris, fans can expect the studio to push fewer updates for Cyberpunk 2077.
Polaris is the codename for CD Projekt Red’s sequel to the Witcher franchise. During The Witcher Polaris’ early developments, CDPR revealed that Polaris is the "beginning of a new saga", and fans can expect two more Witcher titles after the launch of Polaris. CDPR said: “We aim to release two more Witcher games after Polaris, creating a new AAA RPG trilogy.”

Over 60% Development Workforce At CDPR Working On The Witcher 4 Title
With CD Projekt Red sharing their developers' engagement statistics, fans can learn what to expect next from the studio. With 403 developers working on Polaris, fans are hoping that The Witcher 4 (Polaris) will be CDPR’s upcoming release. Despite a major force working on the Polaris, the game might take another 2-3 years before it is ready to be out. According to an interview by IGN, Polaris will be CDPR’s first title, which will be released on Unreal Engine 5, and the team needs extra time to get the technology ready for their game.
After the traumatic launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR ensured that it learned from its mistakes and improved the game, making it one of the most popular open-world RPG titles. CD Projekt Red also released Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023, which was well received by the fans. With CDPR’s focus shifting to Polaris, fans could see fewer Cyberpunk updates from the studio.
Another interesting thing to note is that a significant chunk of developers are working on the sequel to the Cyberpunk 2077, Orion. It is possible that after Polaris, Orion will on CDPR’s radar, which will still take a significant amount of time. Apart from Polaris and Orion, CDPR has Sirius and Hadar in the development pipeline. Sirius will be a spin-off of The Witcher, whereas, with Hadar, the studio will be looking forward to fitting a new IP in its portfolio.
