Counter-Strike 2 had its official launch on September 27, 2023, with the title coming out of its Limited-Test session and allowing gamers to experience the all-new Source 2 Engine with upgraded visuals and physics. Alongside that, Valve also introduced plenty of new changes over the standard CS: GO mechanics that included the improved sub-tick rate servers and MR-15 competitive games. Indian gamers have always been consistent at the title and were quick to shift to CS2. Moreover, players who are new to the title after Counter-Strike 2's launch might be interested in the Indian servers.
Valve's CS2 is one of the few competitive games in the market that offers Indian servers. As a home server can render a lot of advantages for Indian gamers, the article will explore them in-depth.
Are Counter-Strike 2 Servers Down in India?
Valve launched Counter-Strike 2 with two official Indian servers for gamers playing from the country. The servers are as follows:
- India (Chennai Servers)
- India East (Mumbai Servers)
At the moment, both servers are offline, causing Indian gamers to join other CS2 servers that are close to them, namely the Singapore servers. While this may cause a slight disadvantage to players as they will get around 100ms depending on their connection.
Do Servers Affect Ping for Indian Counter-Strike 2 Players?
In any competitive game, ping is a crucial factor that can affect both gameplay and mechanics in various ways. In simple words, ping is the time taken for internet data to travel from the computer to the server and then the server's response back to the system. The response is also known as latency. For Indian gamers, having their servers for Counter-Strike has always been an advantage. Not only one can enjoy lesser ping, but also lower response time. This as a result delivers a smoother gameplay overall.
With the servers down for the moment, Indian gamers will have to use the closer servers which will likely impact their gameplay. While CS2 offers the new Sub-tick rate system that improves latency for even gamers with higher ping counts, shifting servers momentarily can still be a disadvantage for the time being.
One will have to get used to the new ping which will affect many basic gameplay mechanics like swinging and strafing. That being said, Valve will likely be quick with a fix and bring the official servers back up. Until then, gamers can try out different game modes or can simply play Premier and Competitive on other servers for the time being.
