Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League - An Unexpectedly Good Game Or Disappointing Ending To The Arkhamverse?
The newly launched Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is based in Metropolis and is the sequel to Rocksteady Studio's Batman: Arkham Knight. The game is considered an end to Rocksteady's Arkhamverse, where the A.R.G.U.S director Amanda Waller creates the task force everyone knows as The Suicide Squad. The Suicide Squad comprises four core members: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn and King Shark. The main objective for Suicide Squad is to finish the Justice League as the antagonist, Brainiac, has invaded the Earth to take over the world.
Throughout different publications, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has received a decent response, with VGC calling it a "visually stunning anti-hero romp" and praising the story of the game with a 4/5 rating. The repetitiveness of missions was the major con across reviews, as mentioned in Push Square's interview with a 7/10 rating. XboxEra also praised the graphics and writing of the game with an 8.2/10 rating. In terms of fan reception on Steam, users are divided. While some found the writing not up to par for a Rocksteady game, others found it a perfectly acceptable looter shooter with solid mechanics.
Many publications praised Rocksteady's effort to write a different story to end the series, but fans did not enjoy the anti-hero nature of it. On Google, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League received a 2.2/5 rating across 1500+ reviews, where players' sentiments were hurt by the way Rocksteady ended their beloved Arkham Batman's legacy. A gamer wrote:
One of the worst endings to such a beloved trilogy. A disrespectful ending to Arkham Batman's legacy and disrespectful to be Kevin Conroy's final performance as batman. One of the worst conclusions to an amazing trilogy and such a disappointing plot with terrible boss fights. All it seems like is woke garbage. Just a huge L to anyone who was a fan of the Arkham games and Rocksteady's previous work.
Another player rated it one out of five by saying:
This game is terrible, not only would it be as a standalone game, but what makes exponentially worse is the fact that that this game is cannon in the Arkham series.
At the time of writing, the game has garnered a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam with over 1000 reviews recorded. Despite a rocky launch, the game seems to be making decent inroads with players.
