Deep Silver Makes Dead Island Riptide Definitive Edition Free in Celebration of Dead Island 2 Coming to Steam
Internal Deep Silver Studio called Dambuster developed Dead Island 2 as the game launched last year to an extremely positive reception. The title was initially released for PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC through Epic Games. On PC, Dead Island 2 maintained an exclusivity window which is coming to an end on April 22, 2024, as mentioned by Deep Silvers page on Steam. Celebrating the arrival of Dead Island 2 on one of gaming's biggest platforms, the publishers are hosting a mega sale on the franchise.
Embracer Group, the parent company owning Deep Silver and the rest of the internal studios has stated that they are extremely happy with Dead Island 2's launch performance as the title has exceeded expectations on launch, by selling one million copies in just three days. The numbers were further boosted by another million by the end of the first month.
This made the title Deep Silver's biggest launch in both "units and revenue." These massive numbers have eventually led the developers to celebrate the franchise by hosting a mega sale and giving away one of the games from the series for free. Dead Island Riptide continues the story of the first game on a nearby island called Palanai. Gamers can enjoy the zombie-infested open-world featuring a separate storyline with protagonist John Morgan. While developed by a separate studio of Techland under Deep Silver, Riptide Definitive Edition has both single-player and co-op modes one can enjoy.
Gamers can enjoy all the expansions and DLCs for the game that came after Riptide's launch with the Definitive Edition. The Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition is only available for a limited time period. Once it leaves the window, gamers will have to purchase the game for its full price. Moreover, the Definitive Collection is also available at an 86% discount.
