The latest release in the EA Sports UFC franchise, UFC 5 attempts to make key improvements in essential areas of the game - including a slightly reworked ground-and-pound system as well as injuries. Fighters will now experience Swelling and Cuts throughout the fight, and doing enough damage to said injuries can end the fight in a premature Doctor's Stoppage.
UFC 5 utilizes the Frostbite engine for the first time, except on previous-gen consoles, producing amazing visuals and fluid gameplay at 60 frames per second. The power of next-generation consoles brings the realistic mid-fight damage inflicted on fighters to life, intensifying and adding authenticity to combat sports.
EA Sports UFC 5: What's New?
Fight Week
The updated gameplay format for Fight Week in UFC 5 is one of its most notable elements. Players can participate in a variety of tasks and features leading up to the major UFC events thanks to this event-driven live service. These Fight Week Challenges include various tasks to perform over the course of the week with the chance to earn rewards that are motivated by the events. These rewards come in the form of freshly developed fighter vanity items, items for customizing player profiles, emotes, and alter egos.
Players Can Collect Evolution Points In Career Mode
Players can acquire Evolution Points in the online Career Mode by taking part in battles. These Evolution Points can then be utilized to enhance their fighter's perks, moves, and qualities. Players can prestige after reaching the level cap, which resets their Evolution Points but grants access to more moves and bonuses. The game also offers XP Boosts to players, which speed up the rate at which they get Evolution Points.
EA To Feature A Whole New Level Of Fight Night Mode
The new UFC Punch Card, which is also featured in UFC 5, enables players to level up in various game modes and receive incentives including in-game money, player profile modifications, specially made fighter Vanity Items, and new Alter Egos. Alter Egos are various iterations of fans' favourite UFC fighters, with each one capturing a renowned fighter in a pivotal time in their careers. With the addition of new match types like Main Card and Championship, EA has improved the Fight Now experience of the players. Players will also have the freedom to customise their game preferences where they can navigate between Simulation, Knockout, and Stand and Bang game styles.
Doctor's Stoppage
Doctor's Stoppage is one of the newer mechanics in the game that incentivizes aggressive play. During the fight, fighters will suffer cuts and swelling that, in addition to an attribute penalty, can also lead to the ringside Doctor stepping in to stop the fight before the damage worsens. This means players are going to have to work on their head movement and protect their heads as much as they can.
Submissions
Submissions also work way differently in EA Sports UFC 5. For one, the game has done away with the Submission mini-games, which had been a staple of the franchise since the very start. Replacing the mini-game is a fluid system that allows players to slowly chip away at the opponent and tire them out by using submissions to drain them of their Stamina. Submissions are now tied to the ground game system in a much more organic way.
