Chinese Giants Edward Gaming Suing Mid-Laner Scout Over Contract Issues
Scout, currently playing under LNG Esports, had spent six years with Edward Gaming. Here, he achieved multiple top-tier titles, the most famous being the Worlds 2021 Finals MVP. Details from various sources and Chinese social media platforms say that the issue related to his contract trace back to his controversial departure from Edward Gaming in December 2022. According to the lawsuit, a hearing is scheduled for Thursday, July 20th, at a court in the Minhan district of Shanghai.
In December, Edward Zhu, owner of Edward Gaming, claimed that he had doubled Scout’s salary to keep him in the roster for the upcoming season. However, Scout showed interest in moving to LCK and agreed to do so while still on contract with Edward. Riot solved the matter and Zhu agreed on the condition that Scout could move to Korea provided an organization gave him a better salary than EDG.
Initially, Scout showed interest in the LCK organization, KT Rolster. However, the Worlds 2021 Most Valuable Player moved to rival org LNG Esports. It is yet to be seen how things turn out for both the organization and the player.
