At WWDC 2024, Apple finally announced its partnership with OpenAI to bring new AI-powered features to its new operating systems. The partnership will see many ChatGPT-like features coming to Apple devices. However, Elon Musk isn’t ready for this collaboration yet. Musk has threatened to ban Apple devices at all his companies.
During the WWDC 2024 keynote, Apple announced its partnership with OpenAI to upgrade its virtual assistant Siri. When iOS 18 rolls out, Siri will be incorporated with ChatGPT-like smart features, making it a conversational AI chatbot. While most questions will be handled on the device itself, an algorithm will determine if a task needs to be handed over to OpenAI’s technology.

Elon Musk Concerned Over Data Privacy
The new partnership will make Siri more capable than ever before, but it seems not everyone is on board with the idea. X’s (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk took to the social media platform to express his concerns regarding the Apple-OpenAI partnership.
In the post, Musk warned that if Apple goes ahead with the integration of ChatGPT at the operating system level, he will ban Apple products from being used at his companies. Musk currently owns companies including X, SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, and more. He also owns an AI company called xAI, but that may not be the reason why he’s objecting to the deal.
Musk was also a co-founder of OpenAI along with its current CEO, Sam Altman, before departing the company’s board in 2018. After ChatGPT’s rise, the two businessmen have grown increasingly critical of each other. Recently, Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI alleging a breach of contract, claiming that Altman was pursuing private commercial success instead of being the open-source, non-profit company it was meant to be when it was founded.

X Previously Launched Grok-Powered AI-Generated News Snippets
While the AI space is mostly dominated by a few major names, including OpenAI and Google, there are still several places where users can use AI chatbots, including on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
Grok has been available on the social media platform for paid customers for some time now. The platform has now introduced a new feature for subscribers of its premium tier -- Stories on X. The new feature comes from the X Engineering account fused with images detailing how Stories on X will work.
Users will be able to find these new AI-generated summaries within the Explore tab’s For You section, which will be populated by trending news relevant to the user across different categories. Sadly, Stories on X is currently only available on iOS and the web as of now, but the feature is likely to appear on Android very soon.
