GTA V: Does GTA Online Have Crossplay?
Many multiplayer games today feature crossplay, and there’s a good reason for that. Crossplay enables developers to publish their games on multiple platforms without restricting the number of players who can play them. We first saw crossplay in games like Fortnite back in 2018 in the battleroyal domain. This was quite groundbreaking as players on mobile, PC, and console could play together. Thus providing quite an inclusive feel to the game and allowing players to play with the device in comfort.
We have now seen this feature on multiple games such as Overwatch, Warframe as well as EA FC 24 and Madden NFL 24. GTA Online has been one of the most-played game modes in the world since its launch in 2013. During that time the technology for Crossplay wasn’t common in multiplayer games. As such GTA Online doesn’t support crossplay, which means you won’t be able to play with your friends on other platforms in 2023, even though it’s available for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
It’s important to note that players can play from any generation of the game’s console family. For example, if you own an Xbox series X but your friends have an Xbox One, you can jump in lobbies side by side. The same goes for PS4 and PS5 players.
