While GTA 6 might still be a ways away, Rockstar Games is still riding on the wave of momentum from GTA V that is yet to die down. The game has hit a major milestone this year as Take-Two reports 200 million copies having been sold as May 2024. The game broke records in 2013 during its initial launch and has enjoyed sustained interest in the product for over a decade. The game has gone through several re-releases, including a next-gen remastered edition for newer consoles.
GTA 5 continues to be one of the most popular titles currently in the industry on the back of massively popular modding community that gave rise to GTA RP, one of the most popular multiplayer games in the market at the moment. GTA 6 looks like it might be slated for a Fall 2025 release on consoles.

Grand Theft Auto VI is a highly anticipated title for next year. That being said, gamers are sharing that hype with their prequel, as Grand Theft Auto V is slowly breaking its own sales records since its release in 2013. GTA V sales have hit 200 million copies, according to Take-Two Interactive, as the news was also shared through popular gaming personalities like Geoff Keighly in one of his tweets through X.
As the release date for GTA VI is still about a year away, gamers are attempting to get some early Grand Theft Auto action. In a recent Take-Two Q4 earnings report, the parent company stated that they have had a strong fourth quarter for 2024, with Net Bookings of $1.35 billion. They further stated that in the Fiscal 2025 period, they expect to deliver more with Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion. While continuing the statement, they stated specifically when Grand Theft Auto VI will come out:
Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games' previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI.
As the announcement was made on Thursday, it slowly took over the internet, hyping fans all across the globe. Earlier this year, many suspected that Rockstar Games may delay Grand Theft Auto VI due to staff issues and more internal matters. Many analysts also shared their views. However, it seems the wait will not be long as the news is now official. While Grand Theft Auto VI promises a unique experience, gamers can still enjoy it while going back to the beloved GTA V. Not only does the predecessor deliver a solid campaign to enjoy, but also offers a lively multiplayer mode that can enthrall gamers till GTA VI arrives.
