After the recent elimination of the Indian team of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition and FC Online at the Asian Games, the League of Legends team has also bowed out of the tournament. However, they ended up creating history as out of the nineteen contingents that participated in the tournament, they finished their run in fifth position, the highest rank for India in their first esports showing at the Asian Games.
League of Legends is one of the most popular 5v5 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video games in the world and is one of the most important games in the esports event at Hangzhou. However, the title doesn't sport the most thriving esports ecosystem in the nation, making the fifth-place feat all the more commendable.

Indian League of Legends Team Makes It to the Quarterfinals at Asian Games
At the 2022 Asian Games, the top nineteen League of Legends teams in the continent will compete to stand at the top step of the podium. The gold and bronze medal matches will be played in a best-of-five format, while all matches up until the final will be played in best-of-threes. Akshaj 'Kai' Shenoy (Mid laner), the captain of a six-person Indian League of Legends team, was leading India's medal push in Hangzhou.
The other five members of the team are Samarth Arvind 'CrankO' Trivedi (Support), Mihir 'Lotus' Ranjan (Bot laner), Sanindhya 'Deadcorp' Malik (Top laner), Aakash 'Infi' Shandilya (Jungler), and Aditya 'Krow' Selvaraj (Substitute). The country's star-studded League of Legends team, who won the recent Central and South Asia seeding event and secured the top seed, had been seeded directly to the quarterfinals even though there is an absence of Indian servers in the game.
On September 29, India's DOTA 2 team will play its first group-stage matches against Kyrgyzstan and the Philippines. They are the only contenders left to represent India for esports in the Asian Games as the rest of the three teams have bowed out. Audiences can watch the Asian Games live on the Sony Liv website.
