Logitech, known for its computer peripherals, has launched its latest innovation -- the MX Ink stylus. The new stylus is crafted specifically for Meta Quest mixed reality (MR) headsets. Developed in association with Meta, the MX Ink stylus lets users more control over tasks, such as creating, annotating, and navigating within MR applications.
An important feature of MX INK is its ability to function as a third paired controller for Meta Quest headsets. Users will be able to switch between controllers and the stylus without interrupting their workflow. Pairing is done through the Meta Quest app, and the stylus works with Quest 3 and Quest 2 models.
The stylus is slated to be available this fall, the MX Ink stylus will come packed with a pen-like design and offers a pressure-sensitive tip to offer a natural feel for both 2D and 3D creation. It can be paired with the MX Mat for a smoother writing experience.

Mixed Reality Headsets To Witness Immense Growth In 2024
As per Furhan Zafar, VP and Sustaining Product Operations & Accessories at Meta, the new MX Ink represents a unique input device for the Meta Quest ecosystem.“MX Ink offers a first-of-its-kind input device for the Meta Quest ecosystem. We believe the Meta customers will benefit from having such a complementary tool that will be supported by many applications and users alike.”
This move comes after a report from International Data Corporation (IDC) showing that demand for mixed-reality headsets is set to hit 9.7 million units in 2024. This is a new height compared to last year when it saw a 23% decline. By 2-28, mixed reality headsets are forecast to reach 24.7 million units, according to IDC data.
Key players include Magic Leap, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft Corporation, and Meta. While it remains to be seen whether the MX Ink will leave an impact, it signifies a step forward in user control, creative possibilities, and collaboration with the VR space.

Meta Working On Headphones With Camera Powered By AI
A new report from The Information suggests Meta is pumping money for a new project that would add cameras and AI to headphones, but there could be some hiccups along the way.
If Meta staff members are to be believed, the social media giant is betting big on a project internally called Camerabuds. While the name might suggest they are in-ear buds, Meta still hasn’t finalized the form factor yet. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has many designs in mind but hasn’t found them satisfactory.
As seen with Apple’s Vision Pro, onboard computing has made it bulky, so earbuds with cameras can only work if the processing is offloaded to a connected device, and current Bluetooth standards might not be up to spec to transmit real-time video an AI assistant would want.
