While Disney is reevaluating the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise’s roadmap, there have been reports about a potential video game based on the superhero saga in the offing. While the Infinity Saga hit its apex in 2019, the interconnected narrative of films and TV shows continue to cater to fans, despite many criticizing about its quality.
Although the MCU has already ventured into several merchandise avenues, video games are something that the company is yet to be untapped. Reliable leaker Alex P. recently suggested that an “MCU adjacent” video game is in the works. Speculations hint the game will inhabit the MCU universe without directly affecting its current storyline, reports Screenrant.
While there isn’t a lot of information available, Alex P. and The Cosmic Circus have an 89% accuracy rating, giving credibility to the leak. According to the Screenrant report, past Marvel games have received mixed reviews, asking questions about the viability of expanding the MCU into the world of gaming. While licensed tie-ins to early MCU films such as Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk existed, their quality wasn’t the same.

What Will Be The New Game About?
LEGO Marvel’s Avengers serves as a successful adaptation, using Avengers narrative with LEGO-themed gameplay. However, recent Marvel games have taken standalone approaches, distancing them from direct MCU ties.
If rumors are to be believed, the potential MCU video game, fans continue to visit existing gaming avenues. Games such as Marvel Ultimates Alliance 3 and Marvel’s Avengers offer immersive team-based superhero action, while Marvel's Spider-Man offers a character-centric narrative. Moreover, the launch of Marvel Rivals gives a multiplayer shooter experience, offering fans several gaming options beyond traditional tie-ins.
The launch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in 2023 marked another significant success both among fans and critically, continuing Insomniac's impressive streak. Currently, there are six games based on Marvel superheroes said to be in development, coming from studios like Insomniac Games, EA, Skydance New Media, and Arkane Lyon. NetEase Games and Marvel Games’ latest collaboration is Marvel Rivals, a Super Hero team-based PVP shooter.

PlayStation To Launch New Portable Console
Sony is reportedly working on a new console for the handheld market. The company seems to be working on a new PlayStation Portable that will be able to run PlayStation 4 games, according to rumors circulating online.
According to the reports on the ResetERA forums Russian journalist Anton Logvinov, who was among the few people who confirmed that PlayStation exclusives would be making their way to PC years back before the official confirmation, revealed via Telegram that Sony is working on a new PSP that will be able to run PlayStation 4 games.
Sadly, the launch lineup only has games that are also available on PC, and on Steam Deck, so it’s very likely the system has some more tricks under its sleeve, considering how retailers are skeptical about this portable console.
