Over the past few months, Rockstar Games was the victim of several security breaches, including the December 2023 GTA 5 source leak. In December 2023, hackers succeeded in stealing over 200 GB of GTA 5 source code, including assets and 3D models. While the breach was a nightmare for Rockstar Games, according to GTA Focal, a group of modders is using the leaked source code to port GTA 5 to other platforms like Nintendo Switch and Linux. The modders are also trying to get the game on the Android platform.
The stolen data not only included GTA 5 source code but also files from the highly awaited sequel, Bully 2, unreleased GTA 5 DLCs, chunks of GTA 6's code and one of the cancelled projects called "Agent", a game inspired by the James Bond franchise. The unreleased DLCs included highly anticipated expansions like Liberty City and Assassination.

Thanks To GTA 5 Security Breach, GTA 5 On Nintendo Switch And Android Might Happen
The back-to-back security breaches have been a real headache for TakeTwo Interactive and Rockstar Games. In 2022, Rockstar Games was the victim of over 90 GTA 6 in-game footage, which gave fans a hint of Vice City’s return and the arrival of the first female protagonist in the GTA franchise. After all the hacking saga, when Rockstar looked forward to releasing GTA 6’s first trailer, the trailer leaked a few hours before the release, resulting in an early trailer launch.
After GTA 6’s first trailer was out, Rockstar Games found themselves as the victim of another cyberattack, which resulted in one of the biggest leaks. Over 200 GB of data was stolen from Rockstar’s database, which included GTA 5’s source code and a lot of confidential information. While fans weren’t in support of the security breach, they got upset upon knowing the unreleased DLCs like Liberty City, Agent Trevor, Assassination, and more.
Thanks to the source code leak, a group of modders got started to port GTA 5 to other platforms, including Nintendo Switch and Android. While reacting to the news, GTA 5 fans commented:
Holy shit... If this turned out to be successful then I will be first in line to download it on my phone
