Naughty Dog has officially announced The Last of Us Part II Remastered. The definitive experience will be a massive improvement over the original edition released in 2020. The Remastered edition will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console on January 19, 2024. According to the official developer's blog post, The Last of Us Part II Remastered will allow gamers to dig deeper into its development and mechanics in various ways. In the new edition, Naughty Dog has also added a new mode called No Return, a roguelike survival game mode made to let players experience randomized encounters and experience in the game's fresh combat.

The Last of Us II Remastered Officially Announced by Naughty Dog with Release Date
Back in October 2023, gamers spotted the lead outsoruce artist at Naughty Dog studios, Mark Pajarillo listing The Last of Us II Remastered on his LinkedIn page. The event automatically garnered a lot of attention among fans as it indirectly hinted at the Remastered edition of the beloved title. At the time, there was no official information from Sony backing up this information. Fast forward to November 18, 2023, Naughty Dog has officially announced a Remastered version of The Last of Us sequel which will release in Q1 2024.
What to Expect From The Last of Us II Remastered?
The Remastered version of The Last of Us sequel will bring forth various new things for gamers to dive into. For instance, the new No Return game mode will include a host of playable characters to pick from who will bring their own traits to offer unique playstyles. Not only the game mode will offer unexpected factors to an encounter, but one will be able to merge stealth and combat measures to pave their way in.
Aside from the new game mode, gamers can also enjoy the all-new Guitar Free Play mode that lets one strum across a host of instruments. Along with that, a new set of Lost Levels in Part II Remastered also allows gamers to check out playable sequences previously cut from the game. The Definitive Edition will deliver a completely immersive experience to gamers with all the new additions.
Technical Improvements in The Last of Us Part II Remastered
One of the highlights of the Remastered version is the technical upgrade for the PlayStation 5. Using Sony's cutting-edge technology with the new console, the Remastered version will include enhanced graphics with native 4K output in Fidelity Mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, and an Unlocked Framerate option for TVs supporting VRR. The game will also come with increased texture resolution, Level-of-Detail distances, shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and much more.
