Harry from the Content Team and Raymond Zhu, Product Marketing Manager of Aerodactyl Project aka Nothing Phone 2a, shared a Nothing Phone 2a deep dive video on Nothing's social media handles. In the video, Raymond unveiled that Nothing Phone 2a will come with a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro 5G chipset, which was designed with Phone 2a in mind. Raymond shared that Nothing chose Dimensity 7200 Pro over its Qualcomm Snapdragon counterparts, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, and Snapdragon 782G 5G, based on its advanced manufacturing process and performance.
Nothing said that MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro 5G chipset is co-engineered with Nothing on TSMC's Second Gen 4nm Process to deliver a seamless performance with remarkable power efficiency. To showcase Nothing's belief in their newly built chipset, they shared the Antutu Benchmarking score of all the mentioned processors, and in the test, 7200 Pro 5G outperformed its Snapdragon counterparts.
- Antutu Benchmarks:
- MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro: 741,999
- Snapdragon 7s Gen 2: 576, 890

Per Nothing, due to the exclusive nature of the processor to Nothing Phone 2a, they optimized the phone's power efficiency, by roughly 10%. By tuning the power draw from specific components like the display IC and modem they achieved greater efficiency. Nothing Phone 2a will come with the Smart Clean technology, where once or twice a week, the phone will sort and group together scattered data and put it in a single place to improve the read and write speed of the phone. With the Smart Clean feature, Nothing claims that the Phone 2a won't slow down after using it for a few years and will continue to provide the same speed from the start.
Apart from the SoC, Nothing Phone 2a will come out of the box with Nothing OS 2.5 running on top of Android 14. The phone will feature 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and is expected to arrive with a 5000mAh battery. In terms of cameras, Phone 2a will come with a 50MP primary rear camera alongside a 32MP lens in the front. While Nothing hasn't revealed much about the pricing, the phone is expected to compete in the mid-range segment alongside higher-end Redmi phones and OnePlus Nord.
