OnePlus has introduced a new battery technology dubbed “Glacier Battery” in collaboration with Chinese battery manufacturer and technology company Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL).
The Chinese smartphone maker took to Weibo, a Chinese microblogging platform, to make the announcement about the technology. The new tech will enable the company to increase the battery capacity on smartphones while trimming down the size of the battery.
As per OnePlus, the company has managed to incorporate a 6100mAh battery into its upcoming OnePlus Ace 3 Pro smartphone using this new tech.

Which OnePlus Smartphone Will Get The New Technology
OnePlus claims to have developed a "high-capacity bionic silicon-carbon material" which it then used to achieve 763Wh/L energy density for its new smartphone batteries. The company claimed that this is 23.1% higher than the energy density of standard graphite batteries.
Moreover, OnePlus said that despite its higher capacity, batteries developed using OnePlus Glacier Battery technology offer higher charging speed, stable voltage, and longer battery life.
The company claimed the new 6100mAh Glacier batteries with 100W charging support will take only a little over 30 minutes to go from 1 percent to 100 percent charge. Moreover, after four years of use, the batteries will still retain over 80 percent of their original capacity.
OnePlus will be launching the new battery technology with the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro smartphone. OnePlus is likely to incorporate Glacier batteries into its future flagship smartphones including the OnePlus 13 series smartphones that are expected to launch early next year.

OnePlus Flip Reportedly In Works With A Telephoto Lens
OnePlus sent out ripples in the foldable market in 2023 when it announced the OnePlus Open, a Fold-style powerhouse. Now, there have been rumors about the company possibly working on a flip phone. It seems like OnePlus is planning to shake up things in the market and challenge Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip series.
A leak from Weibo source Smart Pikachu (via Android Authority) suggests that OPPO's next flip phone might feature a rare addition in the world of flip-style foldables: a telephoto camera for enhanced zoom capabilities. They also hint that similar to the OnePlus Open, OnePlus might be working on a similar device under their own brand.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone if OnePlus tries to capitalize on the success of their collaboration with OPPO on the Find N3 by launching a rebranded Find N5 Flip. However, reports have hinted that this project could have been canceled.
