After a long wait in Valorant Champions Tour 2024: Pacific Kickoff, fans have got the top two teams of the events who will play in the grand finals on 25 February 2024 and represent Pacific in VCT Masters Madrid. The semifinals of the VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff Playoffs featured the reigning champions, Paper Rex, going against T1, followed by an intense game between Gen.G and DRX.
Paper Rex decimated T1 in the semifinal to become the first team to qualify for the Valorant Champions Tour 2024: Masters Madrid and the grand finals of the VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff. Gen.G joined Paper Rex after defeating the Korean powerhouse, DRX, in the second semifinal. Paper Rex will play against Gen.G in the grand finals of the VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff on 25 February 2024. Paper Rex And Gen.G Will Compete In The VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff Grand Finals
The first semifinal of the VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff was between the undefeated teams of the event, T1 and Paper Rex. The best-of-three series began with the map of Split, where T1 took the initial rounds in their name to secure an early 8-4 lead. After trailing in the first half, Paper Rex got themselves in the groove as they won seven back-to-back rounds, helping them push the game into overtime. Paper Rex secured the map of Split by winning the third overtime with a 16-14 scoreline.
While the first map was a close one, Paper Rex ensured learning from it and making the second map one-sided. On the second map of Ascent, Paper Rex annihilated T1 from the start to lock the first half in their name with an 8-4 lead. Paper Rex continued their domination in the second half to secure the map and a slot at the VCT 2024: Masters Madrid by becoming the finalist of VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff.
For the second semifinal, DRX went against Gen.G to secure the final slot of the Kickoff finale. The series started on the map of Bind, with both teams taking the rounds to and for, making Bind a close game. While DRX took the initial 7-5 lead in the first half, Gen.G ensured that the game was pushed into overtime, resulting in their victory over DRX with a 14-12 scoreline.
Gen.G replicated Paper Rex's path in the second semifinal as they took control of the game after winning a close match. Gen.G decimated DRX on the map of Lotus by grabbing a 9-3 lead in the first half. While DRX's fans hoped for a 9-3 curse to turn the tables, Gen.G didn't allow DRX to make a comeback and secured a 13-8 victory. With their win over DRX, Gen.G qualified for the VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff grand finals and VCT 2024: Masters Madrid.
