Respawn's ambitious Star Wars FPS title has been canceled following Electronic Art's layoff announcements. EA has reported laying off 5% of its staff, alongside moving on from certain games based on licensed IP. These also include the long-teased FPS Star Wars game. The layoff has caused around 670 developers and workers to lose their jobs from the company, some of them were also involved in the Star Wars project, reports suggest.
According to EA Entertainment President, Laura Mielle, the note to staff has explained in a detailed way regarding the future model of EA's business priorities. This also includes her announcement of the company shutting down the early development of the action FPS Star Wars game.

Star Wars FPS by Respawn is Cancelled; Work on Next Jedi Title, Black Panther, and Iron Man Game Going Strong
In Miele's note to the staff, she stated that it is always hard to move on from a project, and the decision is not a reflection of the team's talent or tenacity.
Not a lot was revealed to the fans regarding the FPS Star Wars game; however, many rumors in the past stated that the title would allow gamers to play as a Mandalorian from the universe. This got the fans extremely excited as not a lot of Star Wars games have previously focused on this spectrum.
Despite the cancellation, developers are going to continue their work on the next Jedi title. Star Wars Jedi Survivor was an exciting sequel to play as the title greatly expanded the open-world section and lore. With that, gamers can also expect a Black Panther and Iron Man title in the future from EA.
Why Was a Mandalorian Game from EA a Huge Deal?
One of the most exciting things about the canceled Mandalorian game from Respawn was that it was supposed to be a first-person shooter. Respawn Entertainment has already proven the industry its prowess in making FPS games after the success of Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends. With the same development studio behind a Star Wars FPS title, gamers were excited to see how the game would turn out in terms of combat and weapons. As the recent cut-offs continue, it is highly unlikely that a project like this will surface again. Gamers will have to sit tight and wait for more IPs to surface until then.
