Last week, there were reports that NVIDIA could delay the launch of the laptop RTX 50 “Blackwell” GPUs for laptops. Moreover, Moore’s Law Is Dead also said that both the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 could leverage GDDR7 memory and a GB203 chip, which means it will move away from the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4080 laptop cards, which used different chips.
Adding to his previous claims, the leaker claims that not only will the RTX 5080 laptop take advantage of the same GB203 as the RTX 5090, but the board will also feature the same 16GB of VRAM over a 256-bit bus.
If this turns out to be true, this will result in a boost in the bandwidth and capacity for the RTX 5080 laptop vs the RTX 4080 laptop which comes with 12GB of VRAM and a 192-bit wide bus.

How Much Will These Cards Cost?
Thankfully, the VRAM boost isn’t restricted to just RTX 5080, as the RTX 5070 is also in for a 4GB bump vs the RTX 5070. Alongside a total of 12GB RAM, the RTX 5070 could also pack a 192-bit wide bus.
Unfortunately, even though the video game VRAM requirement is more than ever before, 8GB often proves to be a hassle. As per MLID’s claims, the RTX 5060 will continue to pack 8GB capacity and the 128-bit bus of the RTX 4060 laptop.
Considering all these factors, the RTX 50 laptop GPUs, at least the high-end ones, should be pretty compelling if the leaks are going to be true. All users can hope is that NVIDIA doesn’t give them a heavy price tag higher than its precursor, as the RTX 40 laptops, especially the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4080 ones, already come at a high price.

TSMC Also Coming With Its A16 Manufacturing Tech
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) recently spilled some beans about a new chip manufacturing tech dubbed “A16” which will go into the production phase in H2 of 2026. This will put TSMC in direct competition with its rival Intel for creating the fastest chips out there.
TSMC is the biggest contract manufacturer of advanced computing across the globe. The company is also the biggest supplier to Apple and NVIDIA. The company broke the news during a conference in Santa Clara, California, where TSMC executives noted that AI chip makers will likely be the first users of the tech instead of smartphone makers.
Reuters noted that the tech announced during the conference could challenge INtel’s claims of beating TSMC in developing the world’s snappiest chips with a new tech Intel calls “14A.”
