A cancelled Spider-Man multiplayer game trailer was leaked earlier today. Insomniac Games canceled the project, and the game was reportedly a spin-off title from Marvel's Spider-Man verse. The first post was leaked onto Reddit and other social media platforms, where gamers got a tiny glimpse of the title, and how the multiplayer would function in the game. In the trailer, one can see multiple Spider-Men from various universes team up with each other as they fight crime in New York City.
This is a strangely new and bold concept for a Spider-Man game, as no other superhero game has tried multiplayer like this before.

Canceled Spider-Man Multiplayer Game Trailer Leaked
The leaked trailer suggested that the multiplayer game was to be called Spider-Man: The Great Web. The trailer begins with Peter Parker from Marvel's Spider-Man praising New York City and showcasing the beauty of the neighborhood. As the trailer progresses, one can see more Spider-Men joining from other universes to fight crime.
These Spider-Men include Spider-Gwen, Scarlet Spider, Miles Morales Spider-Man, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), and Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel). Moreover, the game would likely feature many more from other universes if it was released. As for the multiplayer segment, it is unsure if the game had any PvP features present. The trailer does showcase some gameplay where the player is filling the shoes of a Sinister Six member, Venom. However, it is unsure how the PvP would have worked.
The trailer showed a lot of teamwork and co-op clips where one could team up to take on supervillains and regular thugs on the street. However, gamers will likely never know what other game modes the title would have brought. The concept of the game is extremely similar to the Spider-Verse movies and comic books, where Spider-Men from different universes join forces for the greater good of humanity. As seen in the leaked trailer, it can be assumed that up to five members can play the game together in a lobby.
Will a Multiplayer Spider-Man Game Work?
Insomniac's Spider-Man games have achieved a new height in Superhero games when it comes to fluid combat, engaging gameplay loop, and tons of Spider-Man abilities for the player to use. That said, it is unsure how the same level of freedom will translate into a multiplayer experience. If the title allowed one to play as a supervillain, the gameplay could drastically differ from the regular Spider-Man games.
