Respawn and Electronic Arts’ popular single-player Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced during the company’s Q1 earnings call recently. The game launched in April on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC but not on Sony and Microsoft’s older hardware.
It was reported a few weeks ago that Respawn is looking to hire a senior combat designer for the Star Wars Jedi series of games, and also mentioned Unreal Engine 5 as a bonus in the listing, suggesting that the sequel could run on it instead of Unreal Engine 4.
“Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is pure blockbuster entertainment, rooted in a timeless, culture-defining IP,” CEO Andrew Wilson said during the call. “Our team at Respawn proudly launched this title to critical acclaim and commercial success. Millions of players have already engaged with the game, making this one of the biggest events in the Star ars galaxy this year. “Thanks to the strength of this legendary franchise and community demand, our development team has committed to bringing this Jedi experience to PS4 and Xbox One."

Star Wars Jedi Survivor is One of EA's Biggest Hits of 2023
Jedi: Survivor is a sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which marked EA's return to Steam, eight years after releasing games exclusively on its own Origin platform. In April the game's cripplingly poor performance on PC left fans dismayed and also affected its ratings. Users also faced framerate dips, crashes and other bugs. EA issued a statement on launch day to apologize for the game’s performance and promised to work on it. In June EA launched the sixth update for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched which fixed crashing issues and also some other problems.
In February, game director Stig Asmussen shared that Respawn was skipping PS4/Xbox One so the company could take full advantage of the superior processors and also utilise the memory of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Asmussen said Respawn was hoping to achieve a "true new-gen experience" with Jedi: Survivor. It's not clear when Jedi: Survivor might launch on PS4 and Xbox One. Besides Survivor Respawn has several Star Wars projects in the works, including a new first-person shooter and an untitled Star Wars strategy game.
