It might not sound real, but Tetris has actually turned 40 years old since it first came out. Created by software engineer Alexey Pajitnov back in 1984, it is one of the most popular games to date. Tetris has witnessed several iterations along the way, but its addictive gameplay loop was kept unchanged.
The game has now turned 40 and playSTUDIOS, the developer and publisher of the free-to-play mobile game offering real-world rewards, announced the launch of of Tetris Block Puzzle and refresh update to Tetris mobile.
The studio managed to get exclusive global rights for the game in 2021 to develop and publish Tetris games for mobile platforms. However, the IP continues to be owned by The Tetris Company.

What Is The New Tetris Block Puzzle Game?
The new Tetris Block Puzzle game has been crafted to cater to a broad audience of casual mobile gamers. During the launch, two game modes were revealed -- Adventure Mode and High-Score Mode, but developers promised to expand on that with many other modes set to be released in upcoming updates.
The new Tetris mobile game brings new animations that are meant to bring the IP to modern times. Besides, the game brings new effects as well, along with the ability to pick between the classic Marathon Mode and a new, fast-paced Adventure Mode with more levels.
To make the game more appealing, the studio has incorporated its myVIP loyalty program, which enables players to earn Loyalty Points from both Tetris and Tetris Block Puzzle.
These points can be redeemed for exclusive Tetris memorabilia, entries into sweepstakes for a dinner with the creator of Tetris, amusement park passes, and much more. Both Tetris Block Puzzle and the latest Tetris mobile games can be downloaded for free on the App Store and Play Store.

PlayStation Working On A Free-To-Play Mobile Games Platform
A new job listing has suggested that PlayStation is developing a new platform for free-to-play mobile games.
First spotted by TweakTown, the job listing seeks a mobile platform architect, which reveals details on what PlayStation could have in store for its mobile users. Previously, Xbox also revealed that it will be launching its Xbox mobile store in July this year.
The listing reads, “PlayStation Studios Mobile is seeking an experienced software engineer to design PlayStation’s platform for developing, publishing, and operating free-to-play mobile games. An individual in this role will spearhead the design and implementation of this platform, work in partnership with internal teams to connect mobile games to PlayStation services, and ensure that all mobile games meet PlayStation’s quality standards.”
