GGEZ Defeats Van Dijk Fan Club In The First Semifinal Of Arena Championship
The Arena Championship's semifinal was a best-of-three game, starting with Van Dijk Fan Club and GGEZ. For the first match, GGEZ picked the map of Icebox, with GGEZ dominating the map from the start. After losing two rounds, GGEZ won seven back-to-back rounds, helping them secure the 8-4 lead in the first half. Despite Van Dijk Fan Club's efforts, they couldn't push the game to overtime and received a 13-11 scoreline defeat.
None of the teams were ready to give up on Van's map pick of Lotus as the map went into its fourth overtime. GGEZ replicated the first map result by securing a 9-3 lead in the first half. In the second half, Van seemed to have activated the 9-3 curse as they went on to nullify the lead and equalize the score to push the game into overtime. After several overtimes, Van won the second game with a 17-15 scoreline.
In the decider game on Ascent, Van Dijk Fan Club was in no mood to lose as they secured an early lead in the first half with a 7-5 scoreline. GGEZ bounced back, with Saun holding GGEZ's defence tight in the second half. Van Dijk Fan Club failed to penetrate GGEZ's defence and couldn't consolidate their lead, and the game went into GGEZ's bag with a 13-11 scoreline.
