ASUS has teased the launch of the ROG Ally for the Indian market. ROG Ally will be among the first current-gen handheld gaming consoles launching in the country. The ROG Ally has a 7-inch 1080p screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and is powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor which is coupled with 16GB LDPPR5 6400MHz RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe M.2 2230 PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. It also supports up to a GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. The device also has a heat pipe and dual fan design with fluid bearings.
The ROG Ally base model will reportedly launch for Rs 71,999, while the Extreme processor variant could cost Rs 79,999. ROG Ally will be among the first current-gen handheld gaming consoles launching in the country. Yes, the Nintendo Switch and the Valve Steam deck can be bought in India, however, the respective brands have not officially launched them in the country, which results in the imported consoles selling for high prices and without any warranty or official customer support.
[UPDATE, 16 June, 2023 - 4:04 PM]: Flipkart's new banner suggests the ROG Ally will be available from June 7, possibly available exclusively on Flipkart.
The ASUS ROG Ally Can Go Uncontested In The Growing Indian Market
Fans have shared that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme offers a smooth motion at 50-60 frames per second so your game looks sharper. There are two extra paddles on the rear of the device so it sits comfortably in your hand for hours. The Ally can be connected to TVs and monitors and can be used with a couple of controllers. It can be also used at a desk with the help of NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. Interestingly, GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card delivers the highest GPU boost clock with the lowest temperature & noise.
Fans noted that with the unavailability of Steam Deck in India, the ROG Ally will probably go uncontested in this market, considering even Nintendo Switch, isn’t officially available in the country at the moment.
