In 2023, Pokémon Unite esports has evolved into a thriving competitive scene, captivating players and spectators alike. The game, developed by TiMi Studios and published by The Pokémon Company, has become a staple in the esports landscape. Teams comprising skilled trainers and strategically chosen Pokémon compete in intense 5v5 matches where tactical prowess and teamwork are paramount.
Major tournaments such as the Pokémon Unite Championship Series, draw global attention with top teams from regions like North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond. These events feature high-stakes battles, showcasing a diverse array of Pokémon and strategies. The largest Pokémon esports competition in India took place during the Skyesports-hosted Pokémon UNITE India Open 2023. It included grassroots qualifying, an independent on-site event at Delhi's KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, and a prize pool of INR 10 Lakhs.

Top Teams From India To Represent the Nation at The Pokémon Unite International Stage
At the Pokémon Unite India Open 2023, Team True Gravity absolutely dominated, defeating teams like Revenant Esports and Team Griffin during their impressive run through the Upper Bracket to win the Indian championship. Pokémon Unite fans attended the offline event in large numbers to watch their favorite esports teams battle for the trophy.
The LAN event took place at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 18 November, 2023. The open qualifiers started on 6th November, 2023, with 43 teams fighting in a best-of-one format. The top eight teams qualified for the playoffs along with two invited teams that played the main event in a double elimination format with a total prize pool of INR 10 Lakh. Commenting on the victory, Team True Gravity’s Hayrambh “Mereum” Rajesh Monga said the following:
This was definitely an exciting journey. We have put in a lot of work and thankfully it paid off but we know that the journey doesn't end here. The Asia Champions League is a very big event and we’ll be competing with international teams so hopefully we will be able to prepare well enough for that.
For its fans, Team True Gravity put on an impressive performance. They faced off against Forge Your Legacy in the Grand Final and triumphed thanks to consistent teamwork. The top six teams will advance to the India Playoffs of the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League. The best teams will then advance to represent the nation in an overseas offline competition. The event had a massive prize pool of INR 10 Lakh, which was distributed as follows:
- First place: Team True Gravity (INR 4 Lakhs)
- Second place: Forge Your Legacy (INR 2.75 Lakhs)
- Third place: Team Griffin (INR 1.75 Lakhs)
- Fourth place: FS Esports (INR 1 Lakh)
