Over the past few years, Twitch's policies have disappointed its creators to a large extent. When the creators had lost all hope in Twitch, Dan Clancy, CEO of Twitch, announced that Twitch would allow 'Simulcasting on any streaming services.' The update in Simulcasting policy meant that Twitch streamers wouldn't be bound to stream exclusively on Twitch but could stream simultaneously across multiple platforms. When Clancy revealed the update in their policy, the crowd welcomed it with an uproar, showcasing the amendment's importance. After the post about the Simulcasting Guidelines changes went online, the creator community celebrated the news.
Simulcasting helps creators cater to their audience's needs based on everyone's viewing preferences. Previously, Twitch streamers had to stream exclusively on stream, because of which creators found it challenging to cater for the audience on a broader scale. Twitch Changes Its Simulcasting Policy, Allows Streamer To Simulcast Across Multiple Platforms
At the opening ceremony of TwitchCon Las Vegas 2023, CEO Dan Clancy took the stage to share the upcoming updates with the creators and audience. Clancy talked about Stories coming to Twitch, improved editor, Stream Together, AutoMod and Smart Detection and Simulcasting Policy updates. While the audience appreciated all the updates, the Simulcasting Policy update received the biggest applause. Streamers were eagerly waiting for Twitch to update their policy so they could stream on multiple platforms without any restrictions.
After the announcement, Ninja quoted the post with a smiling emoji. Replying to his quoted post, one fan says, "Should we thank you now or thank you later, Ninja. What a legend", while another one says, "Ninja single-handedly just overturned the ruling of the biggest streaming platform in the world, W NINJA." Ninja's move to drop Twitch's exclusive partnership was one of the brave moves, and it seems that move has paid off.
While Twitch will allow streamers to stream on multiple services simultaneously, they must adhere to the new Simulcasting Guidelines. The guideline says streamers must maintain the same experience while streaming across different platforms. Streamers must pay attention to Twitch's video quality or community engagement. Alongside maintaining the quality, creators should refrain from encouraging Twitch viewers to switch to any other service. If a creator fails to adhere to these guidelines, a warning will be issued against them, followed by an enforcement action.
