Gen.G Dominates The Valorant Champions Tour 2024: Pacific Kickoff Play-Ins
The first game of the Play-Ins was between Team Secret and Gen.G. The best-of-three series started with the map of Breeze, where Team Secret ensured to secure an early lead, resulting in an 8-4 scoreline in the first half in their favour. Gen.G did not get any chance to bounce back on Breeze as Team Secret closed the map in their favour with a 13-5 scoreline.
On the second map of Lotus, Team Secret replicated their domination in the first half as they secured an 8-4 lead. In the second half, Gen.G looked different as they went on to annihilate Team Secret and win the map with a 13-9 scoreline. With the score being levelled, both teams gave their best on the decider map of Icebox. While Gen.G got the initial lead, Team Secret bounced back to push the game into overtime. After a close matchup, Gen.G won the map of Icebox with a 15-13 scoreline.
After their recent defeat against Gen.G, Team Secret went against ZETA Division for their second game of the Play-Ins. Team Secret overpowered ZETA on the first map of Icebox as ZETA could only win one round, and Team Secret won the map with a 13-1 scoreline. On the second map, ZETA started strong by pushing Team Secret on a back foot in the first half but failed to consolidate their lead. After a 7-5 lead, Team Secret bounced back to win back-to-back rounds and secure a 13-8 victory.
For the final game of the Play-Ins, Gen.G went against ZETA Division in a best-of-three series. After winning the first game, Gen.G intended to continue their winning streak against ZETA. Gen.G looked strong from the start, and ZETA failed to deduce Gen.G's strategies. Gen.G won the map with a 13-6 scoreline, leaving ZETA with a do-or-die situation on the second map of Ascent. Gen.G looked too strong for ZETA as they secured a 10-2 half in the start, and within the next couple of rounds, Gen.G declared themselves as the winner of the Play-Ins by securing the map of Ascent with a 13-4 scoreline.
