The first match this week was between G2 Esports and 100 Thieves. Two of the most prominent esports organizations in the region. This was the first fixture consisting of the two teams in the league. 100 Thieves, until this match, hadn’t won a single game this year and hoped to break that record. G2 Esports, on the other hand, had secured a spot by signing the roster of The Guard after the organization disbanded. This match was one-sided between the teams, with 100 Thieves coming on top. G2 Esports won both maps with scores of 13-9 and 13-8, respectively. With that result, 100 Thieves and G2 Esports have one win and one loss in their name.
The second game was the much-anticipated faceoff between Sentinels and Leviatan. Sentinels have come off winning VCT Masters Madrid last month and have been on a run of form. One must note that Sentinels was one of the teams Levitan lost to during the VCT Americas Kickoff tournament. Levitan did go all guns blazing this match and secured the win in an upset with a score of 2-0. Both matches were a close affair, but Aspas broke an incredible record. He finished the game with 47 kills, making a new record for the most kills in a single match during the VCT Partnership era.
KRU Esports faced off against MIBR in an exciting fixture this week. Having previously faced each other twice and tied the score at 1-1, this match was one-sided, with KRU Esports coming out on top with scores of 13-6 and 13-8 on each map, respectively. NRG faced against FURIA in one of the most predictable matches this week. NRG Esports won both matches in quite a dominating fashion. During both matches, FURIA could only secure ten rounds during the two maps.
The last match of this week was between Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses. The outcome was in the balance. Evil Geniuses started the series strong, securing the first map with a score of 13-9. Cloud9, on map two, took the game by the horns and secured the win with a score of 13-8. In a dominating affair, the decider map was played on the map of Split, and Cloud9 secured the reverse sweep with a score of 13-4.
Looking at the table, Group Alpha, NRG Esports, KRU Esports, and Cloud9 are undefeated, having won both games in the tournament. In Group Omga, Leviatán is at the top of the group with one win and one loss, proving why they are the favorites to finish the group stages on top.
