Insomniac Games is one of the busiest studios around, with an insane level of output over the last 8 years with back-to-back hits, from Ratchet & Clank to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Since 2015, the studio has been on one heck of a roll - garnering critical and commercial success with every subsequent release. It appears that the studio could be working on another title that hasn't been announced just yet.
This was hinted at by Erin Eberhardt, Project Director at Insomniac Games, who let on during a seminar for Full Sail University that the studio is concurrently working on another AAA title that hasn't been announced yet. This means the studio has something else cooking alongside 2 of the most highly-anticipated releases slated to come out in the next 2 years. Insomniac Games are one of the most exciting studios in the industry, having consistently put out exceptional games at a frankly dizzying rate.
Insomniac Games Might be Looking to Follow Up Marvel's Wolverine Already
Insomniac, for the past 7 years, has been on an incredible hot streak - following up 2016's Ratchet & Clank with 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man, and then following that up with 2020's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. The studio's big release for 2023 is Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which is one of the most high-profile releases of the year. PlayStation is yet to announce any big projects from the studio apart from Marvel's Wolverine, which is scheduled to come out in the next 2 years.
Marvel's Wolverine is set to be a tad bit different from the studio's other Marvel offerings with a dark and gritty tone that will likely receive a Mature rating. This effectively means that the studio's upcoming title is going to be a massive creative risk but one that might pay off big time. It will be interesting to see what Insomniac chooses to work on next and given their Midas' touch with franchises like Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank, it's probably time for the studio to work on new, exciting, original IPs.
