South Indian YouTuber, Mrz Thoppi, was arrested on Friday. Authorities arrested him from a flat in Kochi on Friday morning. The arrest was recorded after taking him to Valanchery.
According to reports, the police broke into the friend’s house where the alleged culprit stayed. The whole incident was recorded on a livestream where the police were trying to break the door down while Mrz Thoppi was being reluctant to answer.
Police Breaks Into Mrz Thoppi's Room During His Livestream
Thoppi reportedly handed over the key through the lower part of the door. However, when the police failed to open the door with the key, they broke into the room. According to Thoppi, this was an excessive show of force by the police. According to the 26-year-old Kerala-based YouTuber, he had already stated to the officials that he would be visiting the police station the next day. However, he claims the police harassed him and broke into his room, which was seen in the livestream.
Thoppi claimed:
“A few minutes ago, I talked to the police officer and said that I would come to the station tomorrow. Now they are creating a scene to make news to cover up their own failures in political issues”
The authorities also put out a statement saying they had no choice but to break in:
“We waited for half an hour. Still, he didn’t open the doors. So, we were forced to break it open and took him into custody,”
The police also took his electronic items, including the computer on which the livestream was hosted. The charges against the YouTuber pertain to him allegedly making obscene remarks and obstructing traffic at a busy intersection during a shop inauguration. The YouTuber is currently in custody and is facing three separate charges of obstruction, making obscene comments, an publishing explicit content.
