Eagle-eyed gamers spotted the lead outsource artist at the Naughty Dog studios, Mark Pajarillo, listing The Last of Us 2: Remastered on his LinkedIn page. He has been at the Sony studio since January 2021 and has been one of the critical members of the Last of Us sequel. Upon visiting his LinkedIn page, one can read in his bio that he is responsible for overseeing the production of all outsourced environment art assets, weapons, and interactive props for both The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II: Remastered. While no official information from Sony backing this up, fans are still anticipating a remaster for their beloved survival title's sequel shortly, based on the recent listing.
It remains a possibility that Sony might look to bring the game to not only newer consoles but also PC. Given the push towards PC from PlayStation Studios, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

Aside from the recent developer listing, there is a little more information backing up the arrival of the remastered. In July 2023, The Last of Us composer Gustavo Santaolalla accidentally gave away some details regarding a new version of The Last of Us Part II. In a Spanish interview, the composer mentioned that players can go up to him and ask him to play songs in the remastered version. Santaolalla then paused his statement and said he could not say anything more.
Many fans have asked for a new, remastered version of The Last of Us Part II for the PS5. While the PS4 version runs fine on the new console at 60 FPS, an upgrade can bring in a better experience for gamers on the PlayStation 5. With the listing spotted, fans anticipate official news soon from Sony. The Last of Us Part I was a drastic upgrade from its original version for both PS5 and PC. It improved resolution, framerates, and graphics and overall boosted the immersion for gamers who loved the compelling story of the first game.
