The popular streaming platform shares another community guidelines update regarding broadcasting sexual content. In recent times, streamers have been streaming content focusing on intimate body parts, which has shocked the audience. To tackle the issue, Twitch has updated its community guidelines and stated that “content that focuses on intimate body parts for a prolonged period of time will not be allowed.”
Several streamers are seen either painting over their intimate parts or turning them into a green screen to play games. With the new guidelines coming into effect, such content will be prohibited from being broadcast.
Twitch Won’t Allow Content Focusing On Intimate Body Parts Anymore
Over the past couple of years, the Twitch platform has seen a rise in the amount of content focusing on intimate body parts. While the content doesn’t involve nudity but is considered soft-pornographic content by the audiences. One such instance was the use of provocative regions as green screens. Twitch streamer Morgpie was the one to start by using her intimate parts as green screens for streaming Fortnite gameplay. Audiences consider her action as one of the most plausible causes of Twitch’s community guidelines. Twitch’s recent post on X (former Twitter) says:
Content on Twitch is always evolving, and we want to make sure our rules work as intended and keep up with emerging behaviors. When needed, we make updates to our rules to capture those shifts in behavior, and so it's clear to the community what is allowed. Starting on Friday March 29th, content that focuses on intimate body parts for a prolonged period of time will not be allowed.
Twitch’s reaction to such provocative content isn’t new. In December 2023, Twitch relaxed their “Nudity Policy”, where they allowed content with deliberately highlighted intimate regions but with appropriate content labels. With Twitch’s relaxation, streamers got creative and got on Twitch’s nerves, resulting in them reverting back to their decision and implying a ban over implied nudity.
While Twitch’s guideline update will stop streaming such content, it is a matter of time that streamers like Morgpie will find a new way to push such content. Reacting to Twitch’s post, a user’s commented:
these streamers are 2-steps ahead of you and working on an new meta that will force you guys to move the goal post yet again. these band-aid fixes won’t do anything. see you in 3 months.
